Denise’s *Deals!* This Week!
If you are friends with Denise on Facebook, you know that the girl likes her deals! After all, she has a large family and needs her consumables plentiful and cheap! She’s amazing at ‘couponing’, and gets lots of brand-name products from local stores at amazing prices, so I’ve asked her to share her experiences on Lynchburg Steals N Deals! She’s a busy lady and might not have the time to share every shopping trip with us, but I know you will be inspired to do your own couponing when you find out about the great steals and deals Denise finds by reading her store circulars and matching up her coupons! Here’s Denise’s first post about her trips to CVS, Food Lion, and Walgreens this week!
(note: Walgreens and CVS ads run Sun-Sat, so the deals Denise got may not be available now and is included in this post not to make you kick yourself for not going this week, but to inspire you to go next week! However, Food Lion’s ads run Wed-Tue, so you can still get the deals she got!)

****CVS****

Total merchandise bought (retail price) – $31
Total out of pocket spent – $1.68
My shopping expedition last night started at CVS, where my daughter, Rebekah, and I found what we wanted fairly quickly.. which is an advantage of shopping late.
I started this “couponing adventure” back in November and my first trip to CVS was a soo scary! However, I kept telling myself that I was “in school” and it would eventually become easier. Well, it has and last night was a good trip!
I made 2 transactions and the first ended up costing me .65 with the second one being $1.03. The cashier (he is also the store manager) knows me now.. was amazed as always at the final cost. I used coupons that I got in the newspaper and printed.. also, CVS coupons ($5 off of $15) and a couple other ones. Loved this trip!
****Food Lion****

Total merchandise bought (retail price) – $90.39
Total out of pocket spent – $40.56
This trip was good.. even though I didn’t save 75% or more.. which is my normal goal. However, with what I bought.. it was very worth it! I went in with specific items to purchase being that it was so late and I wouldn’t have time to browse for more deals. Here I purchased 34 bags of frozen Birds Eye Steamfresh vegetables (the coupons expire in a day, so I wanted to use them all!), 10 cans of regular Bumble Bee Tuna, 10 cans of Albacore tuna, 9 pouches of regular Bumble Bee tuna, 1 pouch of Albacore tuna and a bag of mini-chips (not on sale). The cashier talked about how much I was saving the entire time he rang me up!
There was a guy behind me whose eyes got huge when he saw all the bags of frozen vegetables!
****Walgreens ****
Total merchandise bought (retail price) – $8.38
Total out of pocket spent – $2.70
I tried Walgreens for the first time last night.. and it was a fiasco! I was going through the store and couldn’t seem to find the deals that were in the flyer I brought with me. The sales are not as clearly marked as CVS, so that threw me off too. I ended up at the register with much fewer products than I planned on getting and after the cashier rang up some things that weren’t on sale.. we figured out that I had been using last week’s flyer the whole time!! I was so embarrassed and had to have them take off the things they are already rung up. I ended up getting 2 Right Guard deodorants and 2 (2 pack) boxes of Irish Spring.. with my coupons the total I paid out of pocket was $2.70. I was disappointed to say the least.. especially after my CVS trip! :/ However, it was a learning experience.. and now I am just “back to school” for Walgreens..
This trip was not worth taking a picture of!
*Deal!* on Photo Prints at Kodak
Never pay full price for photo prints, there is always a sale at one company or another right around the corner. Snapfish, Kodak, and Walgreens very often have sales! This one is for Kodak, use the code 50free to get (you guessed it!) 50 free prints. Shipping is $1.99, making this a really good *deal!* Also, if you are new to Kodak, you’ll get 50 prints free just for signing up!
*Steal!* for Veterans and Active Military at Outback!
For the entire month of March, all veterans and active military get a free Bloomin’ Onion. Just bring any proof of military service.
*Deal!* at Bath and Body Works
Here’s a coupon for a free trial-size product at Bath and Body Works to use with ANY purchase! Good for up to $5.
